A Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day
So, we had Samantha's much anticiated MRI today and got some bad news. Samantha's tumor has resumed growth, not alot but enough change both in size and enhanced contrast to clearly indicate increasing activity inthe brain stem. Surgery is apparently not likely to be successful but there remain several chemo protocols we can try as well as at some point, if absolutely necessary, radiation.
Most likely Samantha will resume chemo next week at the DFCI, with a 48 week protocol called TPCV. It's a bit less injections than the last one but more oral medications which can make it very difficult for small children (especially Sammi who hates taking pills). Cindy and I are not happy but always knew this was a real possiblity, just one we hoped we wouldn't have to confront for several more years. We told both Samantha and Mikki tonight and it rolled off them, but reality will no doubt set in at some point ,and we'll have to deal with their emotions and objections as they arise.
More to come, AJ

Dear Andy and Cindy:
Don and Mamie Burdick have alerted us to Samantha's struggles. Their church family, Watts Street Baptist in Durham, sends our love and prayers.
